Repotting without the panic
Roots circling the pot? Good news: your plant isn't dying, it's asking for a bigger home. Here's how we do it at the potting bar.
The most common question at the bench isn't about pests or light — it's "am I going to kill it if I repot it?" You won't. Plants are tougher than the internet makes them sound.
Start by watering the day before; a damp root ball slides out clean. Go up one pot size only — a plant swimming in soil stays wet too long, and wet feet are how most houseplants actually die. Loosen the outer roots with your fingers, sit the plant so the soil line stays where it was, and backfill without pressing down hard. Water once, then leave it alone for a week.
