Yellow leaves are a message, not a verdict. How to read the three most common patterns before you reach for the watering can.
Every week someone carries a sad plant through our door, convinced it's over. It almost never is. Yellow leaves are the plant talking — you just need to know the dialect.
Lower leaves yellowing evenly, soil staying wet for days? That's overwatering, the number one killer we see at the plant clinic. Let it dry out properly and check the pot actually drains. Yellow with crispy brown edges and dry soil pulling away from the pot? Underwatering — give it a long soak in the sink. Pale yellow-green all over on new growth? Usually hungry, not sick; a gentle feed through the growing season sorts it.
